David Pagnotta host and analyst on SiriusXMNHL, NHLNetwork, and ThePHWA. Spoke with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman about the rundown of the future of the national hockey league and other business surrounding the league.
Gary Bettman said he plans to meet with the NHLPA to discuss the next World Cup of Hockey. It's also their intention to have the players participate in the 2026 Winter Olympics (these moves are pending details from the IOC & IIHF). NHLPA say 'it is not feasible,' they're still hopeful for return in 2025.
Fans seem to be underwhelmed by the news unfortunately, as this isn't the first time Gary Bettman has said this. The World Cup of Hockey was meant to be a reoccurring event, yet the World Cup hasn't been hosted since 2016.
