The Boston Bruins and Tyler Johnson have mutually agreed to terminate his contract. Johnson was placed on unconditional waivers today as a result and will have to hunt for a new job in the NHL, with the Bruins' acquisition of Oliver Wahlstrom.

For the Boston Bruins, it is unfortunate that Tyler Johnson didn't work out with the team. He had only played nine games for the Bruins this entire season and hasn't cracked the lineup, even after Head Coach Joe Sacco took over.

During his short stint in Boston, Johnson scored only 2 points after earning a contract in October. He was originally signed to a PTO.

Now, since the Bruins claimed hometown winger Oliver Wahlstrom, they've had to make a decision. Johnson and the team agreed to mutually part ways and was placed on unconditional waivers today.

An sad decision for Johnson, as he wanted specifically to join a contending team in the NHL. And while he may not get to see post-season hockey with the Bruins, he could find a team later in the year, which could suit his goals.

Oliver Wahlstrom will slot in on the 3rd line for the Boston Bruins according to DFO's projected lineup and Head Coach Joe Sacco.

Sacco shared that newcomer Oliver Wahlstrom will make his debut for the Bruins and play on the third line with Charlie Coyle and Trent Frederic.

With Wahlstrom playing on the third line, Sacco noted that Mark Kastelic will be dropped to the fourth line. In addition, Cole Koepke will scratched against the Oilers.

It's expected that Wahlstrom will make his debut against the Edmonton Oilers.

He's played 27 games for the Islanders this season and scored only 4 points( 2 G, 2 A). Can he rebound under new coach Joe Sacco?
