It was reported that Jeremy Swayman is demanding $10 million on his next contract with the Boston Bruins, and a recent report revealed that the Toronto Maple Leafs may be playing apart in this situation.
It's no surprise that the Boston Bruins beat the Toronto Maple Leafs in the playoffs again this year. But the surprise came from Jeremy Swayman taking over the starting role from Linus Ullmark, and has earned the starting crease heading into next year as the Bruins traded Ullmark away to the Ottawa Senators. There's no doubt Jeremy Swayman is going to get a payday, but some believe he is asking for $10M+.
Maple Leafs popular fan Steve Dangle reported that if Swayman is asking for this type of money, it might be more justifiable then some think.
Jeremy Swayman is considered a top goaltender in the league now, and most of the top goaltenders are making $9.5-$10.5 million each season, and the last three goaltenders to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs in the playoffs had an average cap hit of $10 million according to Steve Dangle.
Jeremy Swayman isn't just demanding $10 million per year, he has earned it through his play over the last couple of years, and taking a look at last years numbers he put up a 2.53 GAA with a .916 SV%, and a record of 25-10-8.
