Tragic news has struck Matthew Poitras and the Boston Bruins following an announcement at the Bruins development camp today.

Today marked the last day of development camp for the Boston Bruins, and Matthew Poitras was present for the full thing until today where they held their scrimmages.

It was reported that Poitras was held out of the scrimmages today more than likely due to the shoulder surgery he underwent earlier in the year, and that he wasn't cleared for contact.

Matt Poitras not on the ice for scrimmage day. Guessing he's not cleared for that kind of contact, but we'll see.

Matthew Poitras made the Boston Bruins roster out of preseason last year and made a big impact on the Bruins roster.

Although he was only limited to 33 games with the Bruins before being placed on LTIR and out for the remainder of the season, as he had to undergo shoulder surgery that had a 5 month timetable to return.

In 33 games for the Boston Bruins he ended up scoring 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points while playing third line minutes for the Bruins.

Poitas is expected to make the Bruins roster again next year and play full-time with the Bruins.
