Heading into the Boston Bruins game today against the St. Louis Blues, the Bruins made some roster changes and the organization sent clear message to Matt Poitras.
The Bruins made two roster changes, announcing they have called up Georgii Merkulov and Riley Tufte over Matt Poitras, and also announced that Patrick Brown was sent back down to the Providence Bruins, and Johnny Beecher was going to be sitting in the press box.
Just over a week ago the Boston Bruins shocked many by announcing they were assigning Matt Poitras to the Providence Bruins down in the American Hockey League.
This sends a clear message to Poitras that his game is not at where it needs to be to play with the big club up in the NHL.
Poitras started off once again with the Boston Bruins organization out of training camp like he did last year, but the Bruins were not as impressed with how his game was.
In 14 games with the Boston Bruins this year Poitras had one goal along with three assists for 4 points.
Jim Montgomery spoke out on the reason Poitras was sent down, here is what he had to say:
More than likely Poitras will see some more NHL games this season, but for now the Bruins are going with different types of players while Poitras works on his game in the American Hockey League.
