The Boston Bruins are in need of a shakeup, and that could come from trades soon. With Don Sweeney scouting the league recently, could he be ready to send some Bruins away before the deadline?

One of those players whose been mentioned in trade speculation recently was Brandon Carlo.

In a recent article for Responsible Gambler, Jimmy Murphy wrote that an NHL executive told him the Columbus Blue Jackets expressed interest in Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo. However, Murphy also added that any talks between the Bruins and Blue Jackets about Carlo have likely ended, as the Blue Jackets claimed fellow right-shot defenseman Dante Fabbro off waivers earlier this week.

While the Blue Jackets finding another defenseman through a cheaper option, the waiver wire, does that meanCarlo is still available?

He's a right-shot defenseman, which plenty of teams in the NHL could use despite his tenure in Boston.

Every year as the NHL trade deadline approaches, the same item pops up on many teams' shopping lists: A right-shot defenseman, or at the very least, a defenseman capable of playing the right side. Defensemen who can play the right side seal a hole that is often difficult to fill, increasing the demand for the

Carlo has proven himself to be a reliable player for the Bruins and has been wearing the spoked B since 2016-2017.

He's played 572 games for the Bruins, scoring 103 points( 29 G, 74 A), and has played 72 playoff games for the Bruins, scoring 14 points( 5 G, 9 A).

Whoever decides to make the trade for him will have to pay a pretty penny, as he is one of the Bruins' top defensemen.

Has grown into his 6'5" frame and become an effective shutdown defenseman in the process. Clears the front of his net well, skates decently and can move the puck. Has a big point shot but is not the kind of player who is going to put up huge offensive numbers. Can free up offensive-minded partners who like to join the rush.

The Bruins need win-now pieces, and honestly, if I were Don Sweeney I'd be hesitant about trading him.

But, if he was already discussing him before, is there a plan on moving on from the former 2nd round, 37th overall pick in 2015?
