The Boston Bruins may have two players already on the hot seat just six games into the 2024-25 season.

The Bruins hold a 3-2-1 record right now on the season, but have faced some tough opponents to this point, including the Florida Panthers, who have handed the Bruins both their regulation losses, and recently the Utah Hockey Club, who came back late in the third, and won the game in overtime against the Bruins.

In six games, the Bruins have only scored 16 goals, and allowed 17 goals on the season, you aren't setting yourself up for success when having a terrible goal differential. The Bruins have been scoring goals though, but most of it has been coming from their fourth line.

The Bruins new fourth line of Mark Kastelic, Cole Koepke, and Johnny Beecher has been the Bruins best line, and all three players currently lead the Bruins in points. Koepke leads the Bruins with 6 points in 6 games, and Beecher, and Kastelic are tied for 2nd with 5 points.

Two players that the Bruins need to step up or they could be on the hot seat are Charlie Coyle, and Morgan Geekie.

The Boston Bruins had a spot to fill on the second-line right-wing after losing Jake DeBrusk in free agency to the Vancouver Canucks. Many believed that Fabian Lysell or Georgii Merkulov had the potential to fill this spot, but ultimately both would be sent to the minors to start the year with Providence Bruins. Morgan Geekie was placed there as a "safe bet" by the Bruins, but he has not worked out, and Jim Montgomery recently demoted him to the third line in their last game against Utah.

In 5 games for the Bruins so far Geekie has 0 points for the Bruins, along with a -4, he needs to step his play up or he could be put on the trade block, and or lose his spot to someone like Max Jones, or Riley Tufte.

Charlie Coyle is the other person that could be on the hot seat for the Bruins. Last year Coyle had a solid year stepping up for the Bruins after they lost Krejci and Bergeron, but so far he has not played up to his potential.

When Charlie Coyle has been on the ice, the opposing team has been dominating the Bruins in the high-danger area of the ice. Shots are 10-5 for opponents when he is on the ice, and expected goals share is 41.21%. The Bruins broke up the Marchand-Coyle-Geekie line and place Brazeau there yesterday, but the change didn't make much of a difference.

In six games Charlie Coyle has just one assist and is a -5. The Bruins need to find a way to get there top-nine players going, they can't just consistently rely on the fourth line, and if nothing gets going soon, it's possible we see the Bruins make a change, whether that be via trade or just removing players from the roster.
