Bruins first-round 6-foot-7 210 LBS pick Dean Letourneau threw a bone crushing hit
The Boston Bruins found their prototypical forward in Dean Letourneau, who has committed to the Boston College Eagles in the NCAA.
Letourneau was selected with the 25th overall pick in the 1st round of the 2024 NHL draft.
He's a bruiser, with a frame of 6'7" and has the speed and strength to crush anyone in his path.
While he's only played 3 games for the Boston College Eagles this season and has yet to get on a scoresheet, he's not afraid to play a physical game, as shown below.
If that hit doesn't exemplify the "Big Bad Bruin" prototype, I don't know what does!
Letourneau was the bounty from the trade that sent Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators.
He has continued to show his physical abilities on the ice in the NCAA and will hopefully follow it up with reliable production for the Eagles as well.
Letourneau played 56 games for St. Andrews College wearing the "A" last season, and scored a whopping 127 points( 56 G, 61 A) in U18 play.
Letourneau's agility for a player his size is, frankly, preposterous. He can explode out of turns, get quick acceleration, and move laterally very well. Size and speed can grant him near automatic access to the net-front, but he only really occasionally needed it to create offense; his shot is predictably really strong for a guy his size, but his accuracy also shines as he's able to pick corners and deliver sneakily dangerous passes with the same ease he drops the hammer on a slapshot. Added together, and he really feels like the next coming of Tage Thompson; someone he's been compared to quite a bit. If Letourneau could turn to be anything like prime Tage Thompson for the Boston Bruins, Don Sweeney will win back the hearts and minds of the Bruins faithful!
Until then we eagerly await his arrival in Providence!
