In the midst of several changes in Boston, Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk is gearing up for a more significant role this season. His recent heartwarming gesture towards young fans was undoubtedly inspired by his former captain, Patrice Bergeron.

Kris Noble, a local resident, shared a heartwarming story on X about DeBrusk's thoughtful act. During a neighborhood birthday party where kids were playing road hockey, DeBrusk, who happens to live on the same street, joined in. He brought with him a signed, game-used stick and spent time with the kids.

It's a refreshing sight to witness DeBrusk's transformation in Boston. Despite initially requesting a trade out of Beantown, he signed a two-year, $7.35 million deal in November 2020 and is now entering the final season of his two-year, $8 million contract from March 2022. The upcoming season could mark his first foray into free agency when it concludes in 2023-24.

Fans are hopeful that DeBrusk will continue his impressive performance from last season, where he set a career-high in points with 50 (27 goals, 23 assists) in just 64 games. With the voids left on the roster, especially due to Bergeron's retirement, the Bruins will rely on DeBrusk to be at his best. It's clear that he's taking the right steps, even in the offseason, drawing inspiration from Bergeron's good-guy attitude.
