The termination of Corey Perry's contract has prompted reactions from two of his former teammates, shedding light on the impact within the Chicago Blackhawks. Locker room leader Nick Foligno addressed the void left by Perry's departure:

"There was a little bit of a lull on that road trip when the dust settled, and you realized [Corey is] really not coming back," remarked Foligno. "You could tell the energy he brings...was missing. We mourn that loss, and then you realize, Alright, it's not changing, so what are we going to do to get the energy back?' We realized other guys have to step up."

Foligno emphasized the need for younger players to step into leadership roles and foster a home environment.

"Little things come out of those dinners that help the bonding experience," he added.

Veteran defenseman Connor Murphy also shared his perspective, drawing on his experience with the team:

"I come from some experience of just being here, having some comfort with the staff and team, and knowing what we've been through and what doesn't work. Knowing [my way] around can help with anyone who's either uncomfortable or seems like they're trying to find themselves in a new organization."

While acknowledging Perry's absence on and off the ice, both players underlined the inexcusable nature of Perry's actions that led to his removal from the team.

The question now looms over whether GM Kyle Davidson will seek a replacement for Perry or rely on the current roster to fill the void left by the departed forward.
