It's always tough to witness an incident like this, especially when it involves a young player like 19-year-old Samuel Savoie of the Chicago Blackhawks.

On a Saturday night, Savoie endured what appeared to be a significant injury during a body check gone wrong, resulting in a violent collision with the boards at an awkward angle. His legs struck the boards first, and from certain camera angles, it was evident that his lower body took a folded position, much like an accordion, due to the impact.

While the initial live view of the play might not have seemed too severe, a reverse angle and slow-motion replay tell a different story, showing just how much worse it was.

According to Blackhawks reporter Charlie Roumeliotis, Savoie was in considerable pain while on the ice and had to be stretchered off, unable to move under his own power.

Despite the pain, Savoie managed to offer a thumbs-up to the crowd as he was being taken off the ice, a gesture that received a heartwarming response from the spectators.

In this second clip of the incident, you can witness Savoie being carted off and his salute to the crowd, which prompted an uplifting reaction from the fans in attendance.
