According to Paul Bissonnette, Babcock allegedly called team captain Boone Jenner into his office shortly after taking over as coach and asked for access to the photos stored on Jenner's personal cell phone.
In response, the Blue Jackets wasted no time in issuing statements from both Babcock and Jenner. They acknowledged the photo exchange but played down its significance, placing blame on Bissonnette and labeling his claims as "irresponsible and completely inaccurate."
To their credit, the NHLPA has refrained from endorsing either statement without scrutiny. Katie Strang of The Athletic reported that the NHLPA is actively investigating the allegations concerning Babcock and players' personal devices and photos. Meanwhile, the NHL itself has confirmed its commitment to gathering more information on the matter.
Frankie Corrado, a former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman who played under Babcock during his time as a player, has also contributed his insights to the ongoing debate. Now working as an analyst for TSN, Corrado offers a unique perspective as the controversy continues to unfold.
