Former Boston Bruin Announces Crucial Health Update
Minnesota Wild forward Vinni Lettieri faced a setback when he suffered a broken foot after blocking a shot against the Winnipeg Jets on December 30.
His absence from the lineup has stretched over the last 15 games, despite his return to practice at the end of last month.
However, the wait is over. Bill Guerin and the Wild announced that Lettieri has been activated from injured reserve and is set to make his return tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Lettieri's journey to the Wild has come full circle, as he originally played collegiate hockey with the University of Minnesota. His career has seen him move from the New York Rangers to the Anaheim Ducks before landing with the Boston Bruins.
Having played 102 NHL games and contributing 10 goals and 12 assists, Lettieri brings experience to the Wild's lineup. In his first season with Minnesota, he has recorded three goals and an assist in 19 games.
The matchup against the basement-dwelling Blackhawks presents an opportunity for Lettieri to make an impact as the Wild aim for a victory at United Center in Chicago. The game kicks off at 9:30 PM EST.
