The 2022 NHL Trade Deadline provided one of its most significant plot twists when the Vegas Golden Knights attempted to trade Evgeni Dadonov to the Anaheim Ducks, only to have the deal vetoed.

The situation was shrouded in confusion at the time, and Dadonov himself was visibly taken aback.

After the dust settled, it became apparent that when Dadonov was acquired from the Ottawa Senators, the team failed to acknowledge his submitted No Trade List. The ramifications of this oversight have now come to light.

Renowned hockey insider Elliotte Friedman unveiled over the weekend that the Ottawa Senators would face substantial penalties for their role in the aborted 2022 trade involving Evgeni Dadonov.

Today, the severity of the punishment has been disclosed. Ottawa will be forced to forfeit a first-round pick in one of the next three drafts of their choosing due to their involvement in the disrupted trade.

This penalty is undeniably harsh and is bound to further complicate the Senators' efforts to remain competitive. Speculation is rife that this punishment may ultimately lead to the termination of Pierre Dorion's position within the organization.
