Star Player Turns Down Massive Contract Extension Offer
Last week, Pittsburgh Penguins fans eager for positive news about Jake Guentzel faced disappointment with an update from former NHL player Nick Kypreos.
On his Sportsnet 590 The Fan radio show, Kypreos disclosed the Penguins' substantial offer to Guentzel, rumored at $50 million ($8.5 million x 6), but emphasized the unsigned status of the contract.
The revelation hinted at Guentzel's discontent, prompting NHL insider Frank Seravalli to suggest the offer may fall short on both term and dollars.
While the possibility of Guentzel staying for a playoff run lingers, Seravalli cast doubt on a long-term future with the Penguins, questioning the rationale behind a significant deal for a player on a rebuilding team.
