The Tampa Bay Lightning have reportedly listed their organization for sale.
It was reported today that the Tampa Bay Lightning are listing the team for sale and are asking for $2 billion.
Over the last decade the Lightning have been one of the most successful organizations winning the Stanley Cup multiple times during that span. With how successful the team has been, the value has reached a record value and the ownership is trying to cash in on it.
This isn't unusual to see as many teams have sold shares in recent months.
According to multiple sources, the Tampa Bay Lightning have begun a multi-stage sale process that will value the team at close to $2 billion (US).
Those sources stressed the deal is not done yet, adding there will be no immediate change of ownership control and no change in the day-to-day operations of the team.

Tampa Bay Lightning's current ownership released a statement on the matter:
I can confirm that we are in discussions to further expand our ownership group of the Tampa Bay Lightning. There will be no change in the day-to-day operations of the Lightning and Vinik Sports Group. I am very excited about what is to come for the organization and we look forward to sharing more when the time is right.
The Lightning were listed at a value of $1.2 billion earlier this year by Sportico.
