There has been a lot of discussion lately regarding the Toronto Maple Leafs and their star player, Auston Matthews, and his plans for a contract extension.

However, there are other individuals on the team who are also impacted by this situation. One of them is Luke Schenn, a defenseman who was acquired by the Leafs during the trade deadline. As an unrestricted free agent, Schenn's future is uncertain, and he recently revealed that his contract talks have been put on hold following the dismissal of general manager Kyle Dubas.

During an interview with a radio station in Toronto, Schenn mentioned that they had been in talks towards the end of the season, but due to recent developments within the Leafs organization, everything is now up in the air. He expressed his uncertainty about the behind-the-scenes situation and stated that he will have to wait and see how things unfold in the coming weeks.

Schenn was brought in by Dubas as part of his strategy to strengthen the Leafs' defense for the playoffs, and it proved successful with a first-round victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Schenn played a crucial role on Toronto's blue line, forming a solid partnership with Morgan Rielly.

This marked a significant milestone for Schenn, as he completed his 15th season in the NHL and returned to the team that originally drafted him as the 5th overall pick in the 2008 Draft. Reflecting on his time in Toronto, Schenn spoke positively about the experience, expressing his fondness for the city and the organization. He stated that returning to the team would be something he would genuinely enjoy.

However, the uncertainty surrounding the team's future will likely postpone any decisions until a new general manager is appointed.
