Capitals Star May Leave The Team To Return To His Country
Washington Capitals star forward Nicklas Backstrom recently made headlines by expressing his strong desire to return to his roots in Sweden and join his former club, Brynas IF.
At 35 years old, Backstrom's career began with Brynas IF before he made the leap to the prestigious NHL.
In a recent interview, NHL veteran Jakob Silfverberg, aged 32, candidly discussed his willingness to return to his parent club despite being demoted to the Hockey Allsvenskan league. Now, Backstrom, at 35 years of age, follows suit by addressing the same topic, revealing his own aspirations.
Backstrom, in a heartfelt statement translated from Swedish, said,
"While I cannot make concrete promises about the future, I can certainly share that it's my dream to play for Brynas again."
His words reflect the deep connection and longing he feels towards his former team.
Despite facing occasional setbacks due to injuries, Backstrom has consistently proven himself as a skilled and impactful centerman throughout his remarkable NHL career. His impressive tally of 1,032 points in 1,097 games is a testament to his exceptional abilities. Furthermore, his pivotal role in helping the Washington Capitals secure the coveted Stanley Cup victory in 2018 has solidified his place among the league's elite players.
If Backstrom's return to Brynas IF becomes a reality, it would undoubtedly be a significant move for both the player and the club. The potential reunion between Backstrom and his former team has generated excitement among fans and hockey enthusiasts alike.
