Tragedy Strikes The Hockey Community As Teen Tragically Passes Away
Reporting on tragic events is never easy, and unfortunately, it is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of the passing of 17-year-old high school hockey player Mikayla McCarvel. The heartbreaking announcement was made by Hockey Worldwide on Instagram.
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we share that our teammate, Mikayla McCarvel, passed away last night. Please keep her family, friends, teammates, coaches, and all that knew her in your prayers.
McCarvel, who played 42 games for a Minnesota high school team, lost her life due to injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident three weeks ago. The crash resulted in a brain injury and additional injuries, ultimately leading to this tragic outcome.
Our deepest condolences extend to McCarvel's friends, family, teammates, and peers during this incredibly difficult time.
