1000 Game NHL Veteran Makes Major Career Move
Valtteri Filppula, a seasoned NHL veteran with 1,056 games under his belt across various teams, including the Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and New York Islanders, made a notable shift in his career trajectory.
Opting to ply his trade in the CHL, Filppula spent three seasons with Geneve-Servette HC from 2021 to 2024.
Despite his extensive NHL experience, Filppula chose to embark on a new chapter with Servette. However, after three years with the Swiss team, both parties decided to part ways in a mutual agreement.
During his tenure with Servette, Filppula contributed significantly, tallying 11 goals and 22 assists in 51 games this season, while logging an average time on ice of 18:35.
The 39-year-old's decision to leave Servette marks a significant transition in his career, having last played in the NHL during the 2020-2021 season.
