Boston Bruins rival, the Toronto Maple Leafs have confirmed the passing of Pete Conacher today
Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Pete Conacher has sadly passed away, as announced by the team on X (formerly Twitter). Conacher played during the original-six era, spending most of his career with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Pete, the son of Charlie Conacher, played 229 games in the NHL and was also a former President of the Ontario chapter of Special Olympics Canada. Our thoughts and condolences are with his friends and family at this time.
Over 229 games, he scored 47 goals and added 39 assists for a total of 86 points. Towards the end of his career, Conacher moved to the New York Rangers, appearing in 93 games.
In the 1957-58 season, he followed in his father Charlie's footsteps by joining the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Pete's father, Charlie Conacher, was a star for the Leafs from 1929 to 1938, playing in 328 games and scoring 224 goals with 396 points in his career. While Pete didn't put up as many points as his father, he left his own mark on the game and Canadian sports, especially after his NHL career. Pete became President of the Ontario Chapter of Special Olympics Canada, making a big impact off the ice.
