Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery has made it clear-he has no plans to break up the team's fourth line, which has been their best so far this season. The trio of Cole Koepke, Johnny Beecher, and Mark Kastelic has been the most consistent and effective line for the Bruins.
In response to questions about whether he would consider shuffling the lines, Montgomery was straightforward.
This decision reflects how much Montgomery trusts this group. The fourth line has been doing it all-contributing on offense, playing strong defensively, and providing energy every time they hit the ice. Despite being on the ice for only about 12 minutes per game, they've made a big impact.
Koepke, Beecher, and Kastelic have combined for 16 points so far, a third of the team's total goals this season. Their chemistry and hard work have made them a reliable force in games, which is why Montgomery is considering giving them more ice time.
The rest of the Bruins' lineup has struggled to find the same level of consistency, especially the top two lines. With the fourth line performing so well, it makes sense for Montgomery to keep them together and even increase their role moving forward.
We have seen Montgomery use different variations on the second and third line, but nothing has seemed to be working for them right now.
If Montgomery sticks to his plan of giving them more minutes, the fourth line could continue to be a driving force for the Bruins. It's clear that as of now, the "energy line" is here to stay, and they're earning every minute of ice time they get.
