Over the next several days, we'll be breaking down the top-five prospects in the Boston Bruins organization, starting at number five.
5. Georgii Merkulov (F)
Merkulov was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Bruins on April 9th, 2022. The 5'11'', 181 lb. forward collected 20 goals and 14 assists in 36 games as a freshman season at Ohio State before signing a three-year, entry-level contract. The 21-year-old finished the season in the AHL with Providence, where he recorded 1 goal and 4 assists in 8 games.
As per Bruins Player Development Coordinator Adam McQuaid:
''Super skilled. Pretty competitive We had him in Providence at the end of the year. Fairly seamless transition. Obviously still working on details in [the defensive] part of his game for sure, but the skill level is there. Things that you can't teach.''
Projected NHL arrival: 2023-24 season
