Brad Marchand has been one of the best players on the Boston Bruins for about a decade now, and at the age of 34, he's looking as good as ever.

That's in big thanks to double hip surgery that forced the veteran to miss eight games this season. However, in the 11 games, Marchand has recorded six goals and nine assists.

However, the veteran winger recently shared with ESPN's Emily Kaplan that his NHL career could've been cut extremely short if he would've put off that procedure any longer.

''One of the first things the doctor told me after [surgery] was, 'You're lucky you did both because you would've been done in a year or two.' Because at that point, I would've needed a whole hip replacement, and my career would've been over.''

It's clear deciding to get the procedure done this summer was the right one for Marchand and his party. He even returned much earlier than originally expected, which was around Thanksgiving.

Marchand shared what he told his medical team before the two sides ultimately came to a compromise.

''I said, We can do this one of two ways. You can help me where I'm doing it, and we make sure I don't get hurt. Or I'm just going to do it behind your back because I'm going to do what I feel I need to do to get back early, and I'll probably injure myself because I don't know what I should be doing, and I'm going to do it anyway.' ''

From what we've seen, Marchand appears to be back to 100%. There was probably a small part of fans that worried he wouldn't be the same, but that's definitely not the case. Bruins fans still have the same old Marchy!
