The NHL held its annual Board of Governors Meetings in New York City today, and Gary Bettman had some terrific news to share.
As per Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic:
''Gary Bettman after a 4-hour Board of Governors meeting tells assembled media here in NYC that the escrow balance likely will be paid off at end of season by players. And if so, the salary cap will jump this summer by around $4M. But if not fully paid, cap goes up just $1M.''
According to Bettman, there's a very good chance that the NHL salary cap will go up $4 million instead of the initial $1 million.
This is very important for the Boston Bruins as they potentially will have to deal with bonus carryovers. Also, as everyone hopes, a new David Pastrnak contract.
