It was an immediate solution that general manager Marc Bergevin was hoping would work.
Sign top defensive prospectJordan Harris to an entry level contract and get him into the NHL lineup as soon as possible as the Canadiens struggle to replace Ben Chiarot who's gone until the end of the season. It would also give the Canadiens a young puck moving defenseman which the team also desperately needs.
Harris was expected to make his decision on the Canadiens contract offer on Sunday but this morning we learned that he needed a bit more time with such heavy decision.
Unfortunately for the Canadiens the youngster has decided to stick at NorthEastern University for another year of school.
"The organization is fully supportive of this plan. Jordan remains totally committed to the Montreal Canadiens for the future."
Harris can of course still sign with the Canadiens after his school year his finished next year.
