The Buffalo Sabres have announced that the club has signed forward Tage Thompson to a massive contract extension.
It was first reported by NHL insider Kevin Weekes:

However, the official Sabres Twitter confirmed the reports themselves, not even 20 minutes later.
Thompson is officially signed to a seven-year, $50 million contract with an AAV of around $7.14 million. The 24-year-old was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues 26th overall in 2016 but was acquired by the Sabres in the Ryan O'Reilly trade in 2018.
The 6-foot, 7-inch centre broke out with a career-high 38 goals and 30 assists last season in Buffalo. So, this extension may be very premature or end up being a steal if he keeps trending upwards.
