The forward who requested a trade back in November has now been signed to a two-year contract!
Now that's interesting, to say the least.
Jake Debrusk signed a two-year extension with the club on Monday morning. He's now set to make $2 million for the next two seasons.
Today also happens to be the NHL trade deadline, so perhaps this is a move that will help GM Don Sweeney make a deal for the first line forward.
Experts around the league have brought up in recent weeks that teams were hesitant to make serious offers for Debrusk with the 25-year-old's contract situation still unsettled for next season.
Debrusk, the Bruins 14th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, has been looking for a trade for many months. Teams began showing interest when the winger's play began heating up after being promoted to the B's top line last month.
Jake Debrusk has 15 goals and 11 assists for 26 points in 57 games played this season.
With that kind of production and the terms he just signed to, it wouldn't be all that bad should the Bruins decide to hold on to him past Monday.
