The Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes played eachother in the NHL Playoffs back in 2020.

It was the last time that both franchises met in the postseason, and the Bruins had no problem topping the Canes back then.

Boston had just finished the regular season with the President's Trophy thanks to a 44-14-12 record that allowed them to finish in first place as the only NHL squad with 100 points in the shortened 70-game campaign.

The Bruins ate up the Canes 4-1 in their first round matchup, mostly thanks to Brad Marchand and his 12 points across the five-game series.

The season just before that, in 2019, the Bruins and Canes also crossed paths, but this time the B's gave them no chance, sweeping them 4-0 before moving on the to Stanley Cup Finals against the Blues.

The only time the Canes got the best of the B's in the postseason was all the way back in 2009. Facing off in the Conference Semifinals, both teams played an unreal series!

The B's were left heartbroken however, losing in overtime of Game 7 off a goal from Canes forward Scott Walker. Fun fact : Carolina's actual Head Coach, Rod Brind'amour, was also a part of that squad.

Here's a look at how both franchises' playoff matchups have ended over the years:

2020 - BOSTON WINS 4-1
2019 - BOSTON WINS 4-0
2009 - CAROLINA WINS 4-3
1999 - BOSTON WINS 4-2
*1991 - BOSTON WINS 4-2
*1990 - BOSTON WINS 4-3

*The Carolina franchise was still known as the Hartford Whalers.*
