The Boston Bruins made quite the mess this weekend by signing formerly renounced draft pick, Mitchell Miller, to an entry-level deal on Friday. After harsh backlash from their fanbase, the club announced they had ''parted ways'' with Miller on Sunday night.

Team President Cam Neely met with the media Monday morning to discuss the entire situation of the Miller signing.

Neely opened with this statement:

''I take a lot of pride in what we stand for as an organization, and we failed there.''

'There's a lot of people that are let down today. I'm disappointed that we're in this position. We shouldn't be in this position. So, we could've done a better job. We should've done a better job.''

Neely spoke on the ''due diligence'' that went into researching Miller's past of bullying and racism toward a disabled black classmate name Isaiah in eighth grade. Noting that they met with Miller's family but not the victim's.

''There was a meeting I had with Mitchell, Mitchell's mother and the agent. I felt that he was remorseful, I felt that he had changed, and I felt that at that particular time, a second chance was warranted...We didn't have enough information. We could've dug deeper.'

''I want to apologize to Isaiah and his family. It's something they shouldn't continue to go through.''

Neely was asked why they decided to terminate the contract with Miller:

''Well it was a combination of everything. Certainly, our fan base being upset, and rightfully so. And for me it was, it was not worth putting the organization through this any longer.''

Admits he ''misread'' the expected backlash and states that he will be looking within the organization internally to discipline.

''That's something I have to deal with today and this week, and see where it takes me.''
