Still no word on a decision from Commissioner Gary Bettman related to Brad Marchand's appeal of the six-game suspension he was given by the NHL's Department of Player Safety for his actions in a game against Pittsburgh on February 8.
The appeal was filed on Marchand's behalf through the NHL Players' Association on Wednesday. Marchand has already sat out four games and the Bruins have gone 1-2-1 in his absence, including a resounding 4-1 loss to the Islanders last night.
Coach Bruce Cassidy spoke to the media on Long Island yesterday and said that while he and the Bruins await the news of his fate, Marchand was headed back to Boston so that he could still get on the ice and work on skills and stay fit.
Jenna Cicotelli of nesn.com provides complete details below:
The Bruins schedule for the rest of February looks like this:
Saturday February 18 @ Ottawa
Monday February 21 vs. Colorado
Thursday February 24 @ Seattle *
Saturday February 26 @ San Jose
Monday February 28 @ Los Angeles
* denotes game in which Brad Marchand is eligible to return to the lineup if his appeal of his six-game suspension does not result in a reduction of games.
