Boston Bruins defenseman Derek Forbort quickly became a fan favourite after his stellar performances during the team's seven-game series against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Fans even coined the nickname "Orrbort" for the shutdown defenseman on social media. His defining game was game three, when he had 6:45 of shorthanded ice time and nine blocks in a 4-2 win for the Bruins that got them back in the series.
What made him even more popular was head coach Bruce Cassidy's quote about Forbort and how much he loves his dog, Darla.
"He's a popular guy. He is very quiet, doesn't say much, talks about him and his dog, his simple life, but he's got personality when you get to know him. Guys root for guys like that."
After that quote, all Bruins fans wanted to know about Forbort and his dog. It trended so much that maybe his dog was more popular with fans and the media.
Forbort posted a video earlier today, Tuesday, May 31st, of him and Darla enjoying a beach day with their time off. Indeed man's best friend!
Even some of his Bruins teammates commented on the post, including Charlie McAvoy and Mike Reilly
