Every hockey player's nightmare became a reality for Derek Forbort on that night.
Hockey is a fast and physical sport and anyone who plays the game knows that it comes with its fair share of risks. Battling for a frozen disk while wearing sharp knives under your feet has led to some nasty-looking cuts and injuries over the years.
Unfortunately for Boston defenseman Derek Forbort, he was a skate's victim himself back when he still played for the Kings. It was the result of an awkward fall from Zach Parise; an obvious accident, but a brutal one nonetheless.
Here's a look back the scary-looking injury:
Under the circumstances, Forbort can call himself a lucky man.
Skating away from that game with the injuries he suffered is one form of luck, because things could've been way worse for the 30-year-old!
