Following recent reports, former NHL goaltender Mika Noronen finds himself entangled in legal troubles back in his homeland of Finland.

Reports indicate that he's facing charges of tax fraud, adding a layer of complexity to his post-hockey life. The alleged incident dates back to July 14, 2020, with the Tax Administration taking a keen interest in the case.

Filed last month in the district court of Pirkanmaa, the charges are serious, reflecting the gravity of the situation.

"According to Ilta-Sanomi, the suspected crime took place in Tampere on July 14, 2020. The interested party in the case is the Tax Administration.

The charge has been filed in the district court of Pirkanmaa last month. So far, no hearing date has been set for the case. Mika Noronen grew up in Tappara. The description of the indictment becomes public at the beginning of the hearing at the earliest.

According to the Penal Code, you can be guilty of aggravated tax fraud if you give the taxman misleading information for taxation purposes.

In addition to that, the aggravated form of the act requires that the crime has been aimed at a large financial gain or that it is done in a particularly planned manner."
