NHL general manager are easy to put the blame on when teams aren't successful, and even players have been forced to speak out.

As an old-school GM, Lou Lamoriello has his rules and he's not abandoning them anytime soon. However, his teams have somewhat struggled because of it in recent years (Leafs and now Islanders).

Lamiorello's style was highly successful in the 90s with the New Jersey Devils but it hasn't translated into today's NHL, which has left a bad taste in players mouths.

Most notably, former player Brooks Laich, who recently called the GM out:

''His rules' are a joke.''

Laich spent the end of the 2015-16 season with the Maple Leafs after Lamoriello acquired him from the Capitals at the deadline.

As per TSN's Gord Miller, some of the bigger 'rules'' are as follows:

-no facial hair (except the in playoffs)
-no long hair (past the collar)
-no jewelry (necklaces/earrings)
-jackets/ties must be worn to games and on the team bus/plane

Clearly, Laich wasn't a fan and it's safe to say that several others, who haven't spoken out, aren't either.
