Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney recently stated that it wasn't likely that he would be able to keep the current roster together.
Riley Nash, Tommy Wingels, Rick Nash, Brian Gionta, Tim Schaller, Nick Holden, Austin Czarnik and Anton Khudobin are set to become UFA's on July 1st while Sean Kuraly, Anton Blidh and MattGrzelcyk will be restricted free agents.
It's a lot of work and hard decisions ahead for Sweeney and Bruins management and with around $66million already dedicated to 17 players, it's highly unlikely all those guys will be back.
Luckily for Sweeney various reports onSunday night surfaced that the 2018-19 salary cap is projected to be around $80million, which means the Bruins will have an extra $5million in cap space.
While the B's still might be able to be big free agency players, at least it gives them some more breathing room to keep some of their own guys around.
