Head Coach Gets Suspended Indefinitely After Attacking His Own Player
In a recent development, the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL have taken decisive action, placing head coach Devan Praught on indefinite suspension following an alleged altercation with a player during Monday's practice.
The team's General Manager, Chad Leslie, made the announcement, pointing to a potential violation of the Western Hockey League Standards of Conduct.
Details of the incident suggest that Praught engaged in a heated exchange with 17-year-old defenseman Josh Fluker, culminating in a confrontation captured on video, where Praught was seen swinging his stick at Fluker.
The WHL Security Network is currently undertaking a review of the incident. During Praught's suspension, Assistant Coach Taras McEwen will assume the role of head coach.
This incident marks the second instance this season of a WHL coach facing suspension for breaching the Code of Conduct, underscoring the league's commitment to upholding high standards.
The WHL is actively investigating the matter, refraining from providing further comments at this point in time.
