Matthew Tkachuk informed the Calgary Flames that he was not willing to sign long-term and that he would like to be moved.
After losing Johnny Gaudreau, general manager, Brad Treliving immediately went to work trying to extract top value for his young star. That process began immediately after the Flames received a list of teams from Tkachuk and his agents of which teams he would sign an extension.
According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic, Tkachuk's agency, Newport Sports, provided the Flames with a list sic teams he'd be willing to accept a trade to:
''The Flames investigated the market for Tkachuk based on the list of teams they had. It's believed that the original list from Newport Sports included the St. Louis Blues, Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vegas Golden Knights, Carolina Hurricanes and, of course, Florida Panthers.''
