The Boston Bruins are an absolute wagon right now, sitting first in league standings with a 33-5-4 record and are on pace for the best regular season in NHL history.

However, the fans want just one thing, a David Pastrnak contract extension.

On Monday morning's episode of 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman repeated what he stated on Saturday's Hockey Night in Canada broadcast that the Bruins and Pastrnak's camp are making progress.

As per Friedman:

''So this is the theory, and I want to stress again, it is a theory. I think the Bruins have spent a lot of time recently ... trying to take care of their business before the Trade Deadline.''

''We're six weeks away, and I think the Bruins wanna know what they have done long term and what they don't.''

That explains the four-year, $19 million extension for Pavel Zacha, who would have been an RFA after this season. But what about Pasta? Friedman continued:

''I think the Bruins and Pastrnak's agent want to keep this as quiet as they possibly can. I heard yesterday that there are a number of people around the league that suspect that they are talking; they have made some progress, but for obvious reasons, they wanna keep it pretty quiet.''

''Everyone wants to keep it under wraps here, but I do think they've made some progress.''

It's safe to say that fans should expect nothing less than $11 million AAV at this point, and deservedly so. Pasta is currently second in the NHL in goals, with 33 and fifth in points, with 59.
