It was just confirmed for the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings forward
The Boston Bruins have missed out again on another forward, who was ripe for the taking.
Joe Veleno was one of the remaining RFA's until recently without a contract. But the Wings would take him off the market on Saturday, signing him to a 2-year deal, with a $4.55 M total contract value.
The #RedWings today signed forward Joe Veleno to a two-year contract with an AAV of $2.275M.
Veleno has been a reliable bottom-six forward for the Red Wings, and could've been that for the Bruins, if GM Don Sweeney has been ballsy enough to make bold moves, instead of trading away Vezina Trophy winners.
In the meantime, Veleno will continue to be a mainstay in the rebuilding Red Wings organization.
In Veleno's time with the Red Wings he's scored 64 points( 30 G, 34 A) in 232 career NHL Games.
Veleno was selected by the Red Wings 30th overall in 2018.
