The Boston Bruins selected Jeremy Swayman in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft.

Surprising to some, it only took the goaltender three years to jump from a Bruins top prospect to a starter in the NHL. His elite skills jump-started a quick turnaround that has displayed just how much potential and talent the 23-year-old truly has.

And it just so happens that the Bruins were lucky to even get the chance to draft Swayman in 2017.

According to Swayman, he never expected to be a member of the Boston Bruins, and prior to the draft, he had spent a lot of time talking with an Atlantic Division rival about being drafted. Swayman joined former NHL enforcer John Scott on his 'Dropping Gloves Podcast'' and shared the story of the draft process and how surprised he was.

''I was looking for Toronto to draft me because I talked to them a ton during the year... Pick 110...they draft another goalie.''

That's right, Swayman was pretty close to being a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs!

Leafs assistant GM at the time, Mark Hunter, was often applauded for his drafting abilities, however he opted to draft goaltender Ian Scott instead of Jeremy Swayman. Unfortunately, Scott's career was cut very short due to injury, so we'll never know what kind of career he could've had.

In the end, it turned out great for the Bruins, as they may just have their number one goaltender for years to come.
