The Boston Bruins are in the midst of their first game of the year, preseason action against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Although the first period was scoreless, defenseman Connor Carrick was one of the newest Bruins who made an impression. Carrick threw a massive hit on Flyers forward Antoine Roussel, then proceeded to drop the gloves with Wade Allison.

Watch the play below:

Carrick joined the Bruins as a free agent on July 13th, signing a one-year, two-way contract.

The 28-year-old was originally selected in the fifth round (137th overall) by the Washington Capitals at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He has appeared in 241 games with the Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars and the New Jersey Devils.
