The Boston Bruins (39-8-5) still have an 11-point lead over the Toronto Maple Leafs for first in the Atlantic Division and a 6-point lead in league standings over the Carolina Hurricanes.

The club is currently in the midst of the worst stretch this season, as they're 1-3-1 in their last 5 games played, and there's one major reason for the slump.

THE POWER PLAY.

After going 0 for 4 against the Washington Capitals on Saturday, the Bruins have now gone empty on 17 straight man-advantage attempts. Despite that, Boston still carries the sixth-best power play in the NHL at 24.6%.

However, even with the recent struggle to convert, head coach Jim Montgomery doesn't appear worried, as he knows precisely what's wrong. He shared the following with Bruins reporter Eric Russo:

''I think it's puck movement, we just have to make quicker decisions, but I didn't like our decisions with puck movement on breakouts and neutral zone counters and O-zone play. Usually when I'm behind the bench, usually when I'm thinking, Move it now,' it's already moving and when I said, Move it now,' I could have said it two more times.''

Boston went through the same problem at the end of last season, as well. They will look to get back on track in the win column, and on the man advantage, when they travel to face the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.
