A longtime NHL forward has called it a career!

According to TVA Sports, Mathieu Perreault is retiring from the NHL after 13 seasons.

Translated from French, the release reads:

''The Canadiens' color holder last season, Mathieu totaled more than 700 experience games in the National League, with the Capitals, the Ducks, the Jets and the CH.''

'Four times, he has scored more than 40 points in one season, including three with the Jets.''

'Mathieu has always been known for his versatility. He could help as much on a first as a fourth trio, in addition to having an excellent sense of play. Newly retired from hockey, he will be at a first experience in the media.''

Aside from this statement, there has been no other announcement made by Perreault or his camp regarding the decision, hence the 'unofficial' in the title.

Perreault appeared in 708 NHL games, recording 353 points.

His career is defined by his adaptivity and ability to play anywhere in the lineup and yield results. Even in his older seasons, he drove play at a high level, managing to break 30 or more points in 7 of his 13 seasons.

The 34-year old still has good hockey in him, but after scoring just 9 points in 25 games last season, he clearly feels as though the time has come.

Per TVA, Perreault will become TV analyst for the network, shifting his career to media rather than playing.

If this is it, congrats on a successful NHL career to Mathieu Perrault!
