Manon Rheaume: first woman to play in any major N.A. sports leagues now has an NHL job

Manon Rheaume, a former goaltender, achieved several historical firsts during her hockey career, including becoming the first woman to play in any of the major North American professional sports leagues.

She also won a silver medal with Team Canada at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.

Now, Rheaume continues her legacy as she has been named Hockey Operations and Prospect Advisor of the Los Angeles Kings:

Manon Rheaume became famous when she was the first woman to play in an NHL game (which also made her the first woman to play in any of the major professional North American sports leagues) on September 23rd, 1992.

It was a preseason game with Tampa Bay Lightning against the St. Louis Blues, and she allowed two goals on nine shots. Rheaume also played a preseason game against the Boston Bruins in 1993.

Other notable feats:

- First girl to play at the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament.
- First woman to play in a major junior game (1991�92 Trois-Rivières Draveurs of the QMJHL)
- First woman to win a game in professional roller hockey
- Played one game with Feldkirch (Alps Hockey League in Europe)
