In their first meeting, Team USA beat Team Canada by a score of 3-1 in Montreal. Right off the hop three fights broke out in just nine seconds of the first period, and now the two teams are set to meet tomorrow in Boston for the Championship game of the 4 Nations Face-off.

Following the loss, it was revealed that USA forwards Matthew Tkachuk, Brady Tkachuk and J.T. Miller had a group chat going ahead of the game to "send a message" while playing in Canada.

3 seconds in Brandon Hagel and Matthew Tkachuk dropped the gloves, followed up by Brady Tkachuk and Sam Bennett doing the same thing right off the next faceoff. Six seconds after Brady's fight, J.T. Miller dropped the gloves with Colton Parayko.

After hearing about the group chat that Team USA's players had, Brandon Hagel stated that Team Canada doesn't need group chats to know what they are going to do against the Americans. Instead he stated that they are playing for the Canadian flag instead of the cameras.

«I think we're out there playing for the flag, not the cameras,» Hagel said. «We don't need to initiate anything. We don't have any group chats going on. We're going out there playing our game and then giving it everything and doing it for our country. We don't need to initiate everything. We're just going to play as hard as we can and do it for the flag on the chest.»

Matthew Tkachuk Takes A Bold Shot At Team Canada

Wednesday following practice, Matthew Tkachuk had an answer for Hagel and took a shot at Team Canada ahead of their much anticipated rematch:

«Well, I mean maybe their team doesn't like each other if they don't have group chats.»

«I think that's just a player enjoying his opportunity,» Tkachuk added. «I think that our team does not care about anything that they say, and there's been a lot of chatter and talk from individuals, but we care about one thing in this room and we have millions of people that are watching us and supporting us around this country and we're very prideful in playing for them and the guys in the room. It's an opportunity of a lifetime for us.»

Brad Marchand had some unexpected comments regarding Team USA as well on Wednesday as he stated that Team USA is the best team he has ever played against.

«They don't have any weaknesses.»

This game is expected to break some records, hopefully it lives up to the hype the players are making surrounding it.
