Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield officially changes his number to honour Johnny Gaudreau
Cole Caufield has offiically announced that he will be changing his jersey number from 22 to 13 in honour of Johnny Gaudreau.
Many hockey players have paid touching tributes to Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau after their passing, but nothing like Cole Caufield, as he just announced he will now be wearing number 13 going forward to honour Johnny hockey.
Johnny Gaudreau was a big mentor for Cole Caufield, as he looked up to him throughout his whole career, due to their size.
Late Tuesday night it was announced that the Montreal Canadiens forward will be wearing number 13 moving forward to honour Johnny Gaudreau following his death. In a post he made announcing this change, he also mentioned that he has worn 13 before because Johnny hockey inspired him.
"The last few years playing as #22 have been some of the best years of my life. It truly has been a dream come true and I will forever hold those memories and that number close to me. I wore #13 at a point in my career because of Johnny and now I will be wearing it again to honor him. He paved the way for smaller players and proved we had a future in this game at the highest level. I will forever be grateful to him for inspiring me and others." Caufield said.
This is such a touching way for Cole Caufield to honour someone who grew up idolizing, may the Gaudreau brothers Rest in Peace.
