We have known for at least a year that a significant increase was coming for the NHL's salary cap, but up until this week, it was believed that the jump would not occur until after 2024-25.
Now it looks as though it may happen even sooner.
According to Sportsnet's Ryan Pike, the salary cap may increase by a substantial amount after the 2023-24 season - a whole year before the cap was otherwise scheduled to go up.
This is excellent news for each of the league's cap-strapped teams.
