Scary news out of Pittsburgh, as the Penguins announced defenseman Kris Letang is out indefinitely after suffering a stroke on Monday.

As per NHL insider Frank Seravalli:

Wow. #pens announce defenseman Kris Letang is out indefinitely after suffering a stroke on Monday.

Team says he is "not experiencing any lasting effects" and will continue to undergo tests over the next week. He reported symptoms on Monday.

Letang also had a stroke in 2014.

As Seravalli stated, this isn't the first time the Pens' defender has suffered a stroke. More on that from the Penguins PR:

''In 2014, the defenseman missed over two months due to a stroke. During that time period, testing revealed that he was born with a very small hole in the wall of his heart. Although the small defect in the wall is apparent in all individuals, it typically closes on its own in most people. Since his initial stroke eight years ago, he has played 543 regular-season games and made 69 playoff appearances.'

Here's to hoping Letang recovers quickly!

Letang, 35, has one goal and 11 assists in 21 games this season.
