The Boston Bruins hosted the New York Rangers last night at TD Garden in their home debut of the 2022 preseason.

Even though it was just preseason, the Bruins and Rangers played a very entertaining and close game that ended in overtime. One player who turned heads in the first exhibition game was A.J. Greer, and he kept his hot start going.

After a fight in game one against the Philadelphia Flyers, Greer put himself on the scoresheet against the Rangers in a different way. With New York leading 1-0 just 5:01 into the second:

Greer wasn't only putting the pucks in the net, but he was putting the Rangers on the ice with heavy hits:

After the Oskar Steen tied the game with a beautiful shorthanded tally, the third would end 2-2 and go to overtime, and guess who called game?

A.J. Greer signed a two-year, $1.525 million contract as an unrestricted free agent with the Bruins on July 13th. The 25-year-old has come into camp and preseason to not only get a spot in Providence but a spot in Boston.

Greer spoke after the game in an on-ice interview and stated that he models his game after a former Bruins fan favorite:

''I'm in Boston, baby. Let's go!''

'Scoring an OT goal in Boston? What more can you want? I like scoring goals. I like having fun. I'm not gonna apologize.''

'Every time I hit someone, it was like Oh, let's go!' Every time I was in the penalty box, you got people hollering at me, Nice goal! Nice hit! Keep going!' '

'I grew up in Montreal. There's a lot of Bruins fans in Montreal. I watched Milan Lucic, and that's who I want to be.''

Head coach Jim Montgomery also stated that if the season started tomorrow, Greer is 100 percent one of the outside guys that would steal a spot on the roster.
